Corporate engagement

Our corporate engagement takes the form of both financial contributions and product donations. These are some of the ways that we make a difference in communities, consistent with our beliefs, values, and company purpose.

In FY24, Cencora provided more than $2.8 million in financial contributions to community-based organizations and global nonprofits.

Product donations

In addition to financial contributions, Cencora donated over-the-counter products valued at nearly $2.8 million, to nonprofits including Kingsway Charities, Feeding America, and numerous animal welfare organizations. Our in-kind donations of excess inventory enabled medical teams to dispense supplies and medications to underserved populations in need while also providing critical resources to parts of the world impacted by natural disasters and other crises.

One of our valued partners receiving product donations throughout the year is Kingsway Charities, a nonprofit organization that warehouses medications and critical supplies, then distributes them to qualified medical mission teams serving people in need around the world. In FY24, Cencora’s efforts led to Kingsway Charities realizing annual cost savings of approximately $58,000.

Empowering next-gen pharmacists

Pharmacist Support’s Student Bursary Scheme

Alliance Healthcare UK and the Cencora Impact Foundation launched a partnership in FY23 to help Pharmacist Support, an independent charity that champions the well-being of pharmacists and their families. Our collaboration will bolster Pharmacist Support’s Student Bursary Scheme, which provides financial assistance to MPharm students facing unexpected challenges. This ultimately will ensure that promising students facing financial difficulties can continue their studies and contribute to the UK’s pharmacy field.

"This partnership reflects our commitment to investing in the future of pharmacy professionals and fostering a supportive environment for aspiring talents in the field. We believe in the importance of investing in the education and well-being of aspiring pharmacists, and this partnership aligns perfectly with our values and commitment to making a positive impact on the communities we serve."

Pharmacy Supply Chain Residency Forum

In FY24, Cencora launched a new 12-month Pharmacy Supply Chain Residency Forum, which will provide 16 pharmacy residents with the opportunity to broaden their understanding of the pharmacy supply chain and wholesale distribution as integral components of patient care services.

“Cencora is proud to present the Pharmacy Supply Chain Residency Forum ... as part of our ongoing commitment to investing in pharmacy education — and on a larger scale — the future of the pharmacy supply chain. By exposing and training residents on the critical role of wholesalers and other key stakeholders in patient care, we strive to develop the next generation of pharmacy supply chain leaders and equip top talent to meet evolving market needs. It is our hope that program participants will develop a new and exciting understanding of how their expertise can be leveraged in a healthcare institution or within the pharmacy supply chain industry.”

Creating educational opportunities for young people in Romania

Alliance Healthcare Romania began partnering with Hope and Homes for Children Romania in 2017 to support vulnerable children throughout the country. This year, Alliance Healthcare Romania contributed to their scholarship program, which enables vulnerable children with extraordinary potential to further improve their skills and follow their dreams regardless of their circumstances. These scholarships are awarded following a competitive selection process to encourage exceptional performance among young people with otherwise limited material possibilities who demonstrate outstanding talent in arts, sports, science, and more. The program cultivates existing skills and facilitates increased access to educational opportunities to improve the quality of life for these vulnerable young people.

Supporting youth education around Philadelphia

Since Cencora’s global headquarters are located in the state of Pennsylvania, we are eligible for the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programs. Through these two programs, we make charitable donations to eligible nonprofit organizations in the state as part of our corporate giving strategy. Donations via the EITC and OSTC programs totaled $750,000 in FY24. We allocated funding across four critical areas of need: educational improvement organizations, scholarship organizations, opportunity scholarship organizations, and Pre-K scholarship organizations.

High school work study

Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School is one of Cencora’s long-term partners supported via our EITC funding. The Cristo Rey Network is comprised of 40 career-focused, college-preparatory schools across the United States with an innovative approach to education that equips students from low- to moderate-income families with the knowledge, and skills to achieve their aspirations. Cencora has served as a job partner to Cristo Rey Philadelphia for more than 10 years, hosting more than 50 students during that time through their unique Work-Study Program. During the 2023-24 school year, 15 students came on-site to Cencora’s headquarters one day every week, working with mentors in various departments including IT, finance, legal, compliance, communications, and workplace solutions.

Middle school mentorship

Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence is another valued partner that receives EITC funding from Cencora. Their Beyond School Walls Program connects middle school students with our team members who want to serve as mentors in the workplace. Cencora’s Emerging Professionals Network employee resource group champions this partnership, with 13 team members providing mentorship throughout the 2023-24 school year.

Growing impact in our own backyard

For cancer patients near Cencora headquarters

In FY24, the American Cancer Society's Philadelphia chapter unveiled the Cencora Reflection Garden. The garden provides a peaceful, therapeutic outdoor space for cancer patients and their caregivers staying at Hope Lodge, a free home-away-from-home for cancer patients who travel long distances to medical facilities for state-of-the-art cancer treatment. Following the Reflection Garden unveiling, Cencora team members also served a delicious, comforting dinner to Hope Lodge guests.

Philadelphia Hope Lodge guest, Dolores, expressed her thanks to Cencora in a handwritten letter, in which she shared, “I have been diagnosed with lung cancer. I cannot stress how blessed I am to be accepted into the lodge, not only for residency, but they also furnish transportation for me to and from Penn Medicine. I can also appreciate all of the staff and volunteers that take time to support us. I had the pleasure to meet donors and volunteers on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. They were from Cencora. They were here to pay tribute to the flower garden created for the lodge. It is beautiful. I want to thank the donors and volunteers for their service and appreciate being a resident of Hope Lodge.”

For those with care needs in northwestern Europe

Cencora has also invested philanthropically in the creation and enhancement of gardens outside of the United States. In the Netherlands, the Information Technology team prepared a beautiful garden for residents of a care center in Veghel that houses people with dementia and those with physical care needs. In the UK, the Alphega team spent a rewarding day volunteering to improve the garden for patients served by the Queen Elizabeth Foundation, a charity offering a variety of services for children and adults with disabilities.

For children with autism in Lithuania

In Lithuania, the Cencora Business Services (CBS) team is charitably supporting the establishment of three therapeutic multisensory gardens specially designed for children with autism to promote relaxation, enhance sensory development, and foster emotional well-being. The first garden opened in the summer of 2024 at the Lithuanian Autism Association “Lietaus Vaikai”. The dedicated team members of CBS Lithuania also volunteered alongside friends and family to plant and build structures to create a charming, meticulously designed environment for neuro-diverse children.

Cencora’s Lithuania site was named the “Most Vibrant Workplace” at the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) Business Services Awards event for the fourth consecutive year. The Cencora Business Services Center in Lithuania was also honored by the Lithuanian Ministry of Social Security and Labor with the Safest Emotional Environment award.
